"The suspense in the book was well planned and carefully revealed as the clues in the novel kept me guessing as the story unfolded. The villains in the book were evil and their crimes were awful and there was some violence in the story, but it was not overly gruesome or explicit. The eventual plot revelations came as a surprise to me, which is what I look for in a suspense novel. The author obviously did her research on the Canadian military and police investigation. The book painted a believable picture of working in a forensic office, investigating a crime and the Canadian military. As a Canadian, I particularly enjoyed the Canadian setting."

Your writing style is sophisticated and gripping at the same time. I am enjoying the “forensic romance” as it is different than anything else I have read and it makes me feel “thrilled” on two different levels (like CSI with Sara and Grissom – even though they lacked a bit of sex appeal haha).

"Angela Applewhite writes about, high-functioning women and the men who dare to love them. Her heroines grapple with relevant and realistic issues of the day as they face complex, sometimes hot-button issues."

Angela Applewhite’s debut novel takes us on a journey that weaves her second chance romance plot with timely yet unexpected subjects like drug abuse in the military, illegal street drug manufacturing, and the gruesome rape and murder investigations of three women. Applewhite’s graphic descriptions verge on forensic noir, with all the elements of a forensics crime drama, but Applewhite adds a softening lens through the eyes of her protagonist, Savanna Jones, a skilled forensic investigator. Surrounded by male colleagues, Jones holds her own – exuding confidence, strength and determination while still maintaining her alluring femininity.
A compelling read, Applewhite’s “Torn” is for CSI watchers and fans of suspense novels by Linwood Barclay, Tami Hoag or Halan Coben with startling twists and disturbing details – and for those who also crave a spicy touch of sizzling romance.

"Loved this book. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. It's not a book that you can read in one sitting though. Several evenings I was turning those pages even I couldn't afford the time.
This forensic romance truly is a thrilling story, full of passion and imagery that create all sorts of emotions. Rich and sensual language throws at the reader visualizations that are at times unsettling and others - warm. Grounded in true stories from crime scenes and controversial issues in our society, it touches our souls and makes it very real.
I loved author's mastery in painting the characters in this book, whose lives have been thorn by events and circumstances they couldn't control.
Twisted threads are hard to predict and keep reader in suspense, while trying to guess the suspects and victims ahead of time.
The whole plot is well worth a movie.
While I won't tell you how it all ends, I can say that it was so worth my time! I can only compare it to an intensity of reading Mark Russinovich books.
Great job - I will be definitely reaching for every Angela's book!"
