Canadian Cities: Where Romance Meets Mystery
I love setting my stories in Canada. From swanky Yorkville cafes to shadowy corners of the Distillery District. Picture a chance meeting in Union Station’s Great Hall, where thousands of lives intersect daily.
Listen to the rain drops hitting Vancouver’s pavements. Do you feel that compulsion for closeness? That primal need to stay dry? The constant downpour creates a noir-like setting where rain-slicked alleys enhance both romance and danger. It invites intimate encounters—offering renewal, growth, and connection.
Then there’s Montreal, where the unique cobblestone laneways of that city’s Old Port streets preserve secrets that are more than three hundred years old.
I discovered this power of place while researching my latest novel. Standing in the rain outside Kensington Market, watching vendors set up in at sunrise, I realized every city corner has potential for connection and conflict. A brush of shoulders between strangers at a crowded café. A shared umbrella moment that changes everything. The way streetlights paint wet cobblestones the colour of gold–and like the swiftness of a shadow, ordinary moments become turning points.
